The ghost of Lake Hope Furnace

Not far from the Moonville tunnel is Lake Hope State Park. Home of one of the earliest iron furnaces, which was in operation during 1854 to 1874. Legend has it that a watchman atop the furnace lost his balance when a sudden storm produced a flash of lightning that blinded him. Unable to see he lost his balance on fell into the fiery pit of the molten furnace. During stormy nights some claim you can still see the outline of the night watchman guarding the furnace.
